Yes, I realize that I promised to leave this stuff to Matt, but I need to break that promise. I just had some verses I wanted to share because they are what I believe, and I think it is important to share those things that I believe. First off, I would like to share with you the base of my beliefs from the book of Titus.
Titus 3:4-7 "But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."
I believe this whole-heartedly. We did nothing to save ourselves other than accept the gift that he gave us. For those of you who struggle with sin in your life, I would like to encourage you with this verse.
1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."
This is encouraging, is it not? No matter how much you are tempted, there is a way out. You just need to ask God to show you the way out. But be sure to take an active role in that escape from temptation. For those who purposefully stay in their sin I share this verse.
Galations 6:8 "The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life."
Now I don't know about you, but I definately don't want to stay on the road to destruction. And eternal life sounds pretty good. I think I would rather have that any day. To close off my thoughts, I would like to give my brothers in Christ these final verses.
Galations 6:9-10 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."
